AWARD WINNING
ICE (Independent Creative Excellence) Awards – The Freelance Exchange, Kansas City
2010 – Silver – Logo Design
I wanted to design a logo that was simple with a distinguishing icon that would be versatile. I knew it had to reflect the artwork of India and Pakistan but look modern.

2007 – Silver – Brochure
This project was a recruiting brochure to be used at career fairs. Since most of what Larson Binkley produces is not photogenic, necessity lead me to imagery where I could insert the icon. While this gimmick of using the icon is fun there is a practical use to it a well. Handing out a brochure that people will find interesting and take home with them was a key factor.

2007 – Silver – Advertisement
A trade publication ad campaign promoting Larson Binkley’s services. This ad was focusing on customer service. Since most of what Larson Binkley produces is not photogenic, necessity lead me to imagery where I could insert the icon. Also, knowing that trade publication ads are usually bland and inserting the close up of a woman’s lips is a visual shock to the viewer. Adding the icon beauty mark informs the view that those are Larson Binkley lips.

H&R Block Financial Advisors Benefits Calendar
Originally, I had a project request for a employee benefits calendar for H&R Block Financial Advisors. I had no budget and had to find a creative solution for a not so exciting topic. Each month was going to focus on the different employee benefits. I decided that I should use abstract photos and typography to create interesting designs, at least the calendar would be “visually stunning.” I was stuck with two color option to make it “visually stunning.” It wasn’t until after I completed the project that entering it into a competition arose. Having the limitations that I did I think helped me make it more creative. It was entered into the “up to three colors” category.
